      <image:title>Projects - World Food Program x Exygy</image:title>
<image:caption>In partnership with Exygy, Groupshot consulted for the World Food Program in 2012 on a proposed pilot in East Africa on cash and voucher transfer design. The WFP was experimenting with distribution of cash and/or vouchers through local shops to enable people to use them to collect food. The idea was to build a simple website to be rolled out to local shops and WFP offices. The user interface would expedite the registration and digitization of people into the program. Groupshot advised on design issues unique to communities in East Africa and linking a major UN agency's program with small service providers and informal businesses. Adam used past field research on shops in Kenya to add more context for the Exygy team based in the US.  </image:caption>

      <image:title>Projects - Digital Matatus</image:title>
<image:caption>Digital Matatus is a key player in the movement to make transportation in the developing world more efficient and open. A collaborative project of the University of Nairobi, Columbia University’s Center for Sustainable Urban Development, MIT’s Civic Data Design Lab, and Groupshot, the project collects and standardizes transit data for Nairobi’s Matatu system—the city’s decentralized city bus system—making it open and available to the public for the first time.</image:caption>

<image:title>Projects - Learning Lab India: Technology for Educational Play</image:title>
<image:caption>As part of the NuVu Studio, an innovation center for high school students to work on multi-disciplinary collaborative projects, Groupshot led a design studio to develop mobile education platforms for slum youth in India. In collaboration with Sesame Workshop India, the goal was to develop a suite of educational smartphone applications to encourage social, emotional, and physical health and to supplement teaching and support informal learning. Groupshot then led a group of students to conduct field tests with local partners and to research game concepts and technology. Students were coached through the research process and iterative design process to develop a series of insights on the technology and a familiarity with design-based methods. This unusual trip provided an alternative educational experience for nine high school students to visit and work in a developing country with the potential for real and sustainable impact.  </image:caption>
